We can all need a little help behind the scenes sometimes. Public speaking can be intimidating for even the most confident people.
If you’re feeling a little nervous about the speeches at your wedding, just know that is completely natural!
Public speaking can feel intimidating, but when it comes down to it a few simple techniques can make a big difference.
These techniques make you feel much more prepared and confident, help to lessen any added anxiety, and make you feel full of confidence, as well as heart for your special day.
For an additional fee I will work with those who would like to make speeches during your ceremony, to rehearse and refine their speech and delivery so they feel performance ready on the day.
so, what does a Speech Workshop involve?
- A 1hr session with me, either in person or on zoom, at a time convenient to you.
We will spend the hour rehearsing your speech, focusing on aspects including pacing, tone, breath, confidence and mindset.
- After the workshop, I will send you a summary of our session, with a PDF document listing all of the details of the techniques we worked on, so you can keep practising and refer to it at any time.
I promise that after this session you’ll have all the tools you need to feel confident, relaxed and ready to pick up that microphone.

Bespoke Poem
One great love of mine is poetry, and I’m lucky to have had a few of my pieces published.
If you would like a one of a kind bespoke poem that captures the essence of your relationship or loved one then just say the word, and I’ll create something heart-felt, special and unique just for you.
If you want to have a more creative component to your vows or readings during your ceremony, then a personalised one of a kind poem that is written with your relationship at the centre is a great way to go!
You can use it to surprise your partner during your vows, or as a fun feature for one of your loved ones to use as a reading, or if you’d like to keep it more private and just for the two of you as a keepsake of your special day.
The poem can capture a snapshot of your love and life together as it is now, in full bloom, as you get married.
This poem can be used as part of your vows to each other, as a reading for a loved one to recite during your ceremony, or as a special keepsake.
so, what does a Bespoke Poem involve?
- A 1 hr meet with me, either in person or on zoom, at a time that is convenient for you.
It’s a very relaxed meet up, where we can chat and I hear all about your great love story. You can tell me key details about moments of your relationship, like when you first met, your first date, when you got engaged as well as funny anecdotes and precious memories that you’d like to include.
It can even be as simple as putting into words how your partner makes you feel, and what you love about them.
- Then I will go off with my laptop and trusty oat latte in hand (very key for my creativity!), and write your personalised one of a kind poem.
Then it’s up to you! I can send it to you to read and double check you’re 100% happy with it, or, if you’re getting a friend to read it during your ceremony, some couples like to leave it as a surprise for your special day!

a little about me and how I can help
As a classically trained actor, I understand how unsettling it can feel to stand in front of people and perform. There’s a fear of looking silly, perhaps a fear of judgement and a worry that you might just get it all wrong.
The main thing is to remember that your friends and family are there to soak in and experience this beautiful moment with you, not write a scathing review!
So if you stumble over your words, it really doesn’t matter because they are there to cheer you on.
But I also know that, despite this, you yourself want to feel satisfied that you gave your best performance on the day.
There are a few techniques I can show you, used by actors, that could prove helpful, make you feel much more prepared and confident, and help to lessen any added anxiety for your special day.
I’m a real sentimental soul and love poetry. For me the sweet spot lies between the irony of Carol Ann Duffy, and the mix of wit and velvety romance of Maya Angelou.
